How to use templates in Cacoo

Cacoo offers hundreds of templates to inspire and jumpstart your next project.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to:

  • Access templates
  • Search templates
  • Edit templates

Access templates

There are two ways to access templates in Cacoo:

  1. In the dashboard, select the template icon on the top left of the sidebar.
  2. In an open diagram, select the template icon in the tool menu.

Search templates

Whether you access Cacoo’s templates via the dashboard or the diagram tool menu, both options will open the template library where you can search hundreds of options. Search by keyword or category for templates to help you with brainstorming, infrastructure, decision-making, design, and more.

To use a template, hover over the image and select “Use template.” If you’re in the dashboard, a new diagram is created using the template. If you have a specific folder selected, it’s added there. If you’re in the editor, the template is added to the current sheet (if there aren’t existing shapes) or to a new sheet.

To preview a template, hover over the image and select “Preview.”

Edit templates

To edit a template, select or double-click the object you want to change. If an object can’t be edited, lock icons appear at each corner when it’s selected. To unlock an object, select it, right-click, and select “Unlock” from the menu.

Most templates also include a section with additional objects that can be added and customized.
