How to attach files to wikis in Backlog

Attach files and display images in your Backlog wiki.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to:

  • Attach files
  • Link to shared files
  • Display an attached image

Attach files

There are two ways to attach files to a wiki. The size limits for attachments are based on your plan.

  1. On the wiki page, select the “Attach file” button at the top right.

Display an attached image

There are a few ways to display an attached image when editing a wiki.

To add a link or image tag:

  • Select the paperclip icon in the “Contents” field toolbar.
  • Select the image file.
  • Select “Add link tag” to show the text link or “Add image tag” to display the image. You can also insert an image tag manually by typing “![image][file ID or name]” or “#image(file ID or name)”.
  • Select “Submit.”

Images are displayed to load quickly, but you can choose to display images in their original size by going to Project settings > General  and checking the “Display images in wikis in their original size.”

Good to know

If your image appears as text instead of the image itself, it may be due to the project’s formatting rules.

Projects with Backlog formatting rules can add a thumbnail image tag:

  • Select the paperclip icon in the “Contents” field toolbar.
  • Select the image file.
  • Select “Add thumbnail tag.” You can also insert a thumbnail image tag manually by typing “#thumbnail(file ID or name)”.
  • Select “Submit.”
