Backlog 101: The dashboard

The dashboard is your home base for Backlog and where you’ll land any time you log in. From here, you can view your projects and issues, recent updates from other members, and Backlog news.

In this overview, we’ll go over the main areas of the dashboard:

  • Global navigation: At the top of the screen
  • Drawers: In the middle of the screen

Global navigation

Located at the top of the screen, the global navigation is where you can:

  • Access your projects
  • Access your recently viewed projects and wikis
  • Access your saved issue search filters
  • Add an issue, project, or user (based on user role and privileges)
  • Upgrade your plan (admins only)
  • Search your Backlog space

  • Navigate to members or issues pages
  • Watch a page
  • See Backlog notifications
Good to know
There are two ways to search with keywords. NOT syntax lets you search for items that contain word A but not word B by adding a “-” before word B. For example, “example -01” will search for items that contain “example” without the “01.”

OR syntax lets you search for items that contain word A or word B by inserting “OR” between the words. For example, “page OR example” will search for items that contain either of these keywords.

  • Projects: All your current projects starting with the five most recently accessed. Hover over any project to access a specific project page.
  • Pull requests: All your current assigned and created pull requests starting with the 10 most recent. Only shown for projects with Git enabled.
  • My issues: All your current issues starting with the 10 most recent. Can be filtered for “Assigned to me,” “Created by me,” and date and include buttons to access your Gantt chart, perform a batch update, or import your issue timeline into your calendar.
