Backlog AI assistant features
Backlog AI helps you stay on top of your projects by providing useful insights and automating key tasks. You can use it across different projects to save time and work more efficiently.
With Backlog AI assistant, you can:
- Find and summarize issues based on their details.
- Create and delete documents.
- Summarize wiki pages and documents.
- Create new issues.
- Visualize issue progress.
- View recent activity of members and projects (update history within Backlog).
- Identify high-priority or urgent issues.
- Find issues that are past their due date.
Good to know
The AI assistant generates answers based on information available in Backlog and can make mistakes. Be sure to review answers for accuracy.
Backlog AI credits
Usage of Backlog AI assistant is credit-based and determined by your organization’s plan or paid pack. Credits used are based on various factors including the amount of data you send and receive, which AI model is used, and how often you use the service. One question or prompt is usually about 10 credits.
Credits are monthly and usage resets at 00:00 (UTC) on the first day of each month. Admins receive an alert once their organization has used 80% of available credits and can also check usage via Space settings > Global settings > Backlog AI assistant.
Plans and packs
The Premium plan includes 2,000 monthly credits, but any organization can purchase the following Backlog AI credit packs regardless of their plan:

Purchasing Backlog AI credit packs (Light, Basic, Advanced)
- Go to the “Billing” section under “Plans.”
- Select "Buy a pack" next to "Backlog AI credit pack."
- Select your pack and click "Next."
- Select "Buy pack."
How to upgrade your Backlog AI credit pack
- Go to the “Billing” section under “Plans.”
- Select "Change pack."
- Select the new pack and click "Next."
- Select "Change pack."
First payment for Backlog AI credit packs
Because billing is aligned with your Backlog plan, your first payment covers the period until your plan’s renewal.
Check AI Credit Usage for Each User
You can check how many Backlog AI credits each user used.
Here are the steps to check Backlog AI credit usage:
- Click "Space Settings" > "General Settings" > "Backlog AI Assistant".
- Select the year and month you want to check in "Select Month".
- Click "Export CSV".

Good to know
- You can download logs for up to 12 months.
- The log shows one row per user. Each item is separated by a comma.
- The log only shows users who used Backlog AI Assistant during the selected month.
- Users are listed in order of the highest credit usage first.
- The log is exported using UTF-8 character encoding. If the text is garbled, please change the character encoding of your software.
Enabling Backlog AI assistant
To enable the Backlog AI assistant:
- Go to space settings > Global settings > Backlog AI assistant settings.
- Select the “Enable Backlog AI assistant” checkbox.
