Nulab 101: Passkeys

Passkeys offer a secure, password-less way to log in using a PIN, fingerprints, or facial recognition. They’re stored in your password manager and can be used across multiple devices.

In this overview, we’ll go over:

  • Adding a passkey
  • Logging in with a passkey
  • Deleting a passkey

Adding a passkey

Passkeys can be used with the following:

  • Windows with Windows Hello
    • Chrome (latest version)
    • Edge (latest version)
    • Firefox (latest version)
  • Mac with Touch ID
    • Chrome (latest version)
    • Edge (latest version)
    • Safari (latest version)
  • Android (12 or later)
    • Chrome (latest version)
    • Edge (latest version)
    • Firefox (latest version)
  • iPhone (14 or later)
    • Chrome (latest version)
    • Edge (latest version)
    • Firefox (latest version)
    • Safari (latest version)

To add a passkey:

  • Select your profile icon in the global navigation.
  • Select “My profile.”
  • Select the “Security” tab at the top.
  • Select “Passkey” from the menu on the left.
  • Select the “Add passkey” button. 
  • To create a security key, which allows you to create a passkey on an external drive or device, select the checkbox.
  • Add your passkey.

Logging in with a passkey

To log in with your passkey:

  • On the login screen, select the email input field.
  • Select your passkey from the pop-up.
  • Authenticate your passkey or security key.

Good to know

You can still log in with a password, but two-factor authentication is required and automatically enabled when you add a passkey.

Deleting a passkey

To delete a passkey:

  • Select your profile icon in the global navigation.
  • Select “My profile.”
  • Select the “Security” tab at the top.
  • Select “Passkey” from the menu on the left.
  • Select “Remove” next to the passkey you want to delete.
  • Select “Disable password-less authentication” to confirm.

Good to know

You can log in with your passkey even If you lose or change your device. If you have trouble, log in with your password and re-add the passkey.
