Troubleshooting Typetalk desktop notifications

If you are not receiving desktop notifications in Typetalk, please check the following.

Check Typetalk's notification settings

Open the Typetalk “Notifications” settings page. Check if the "Enable desktop notifications" button is displayed in the "Desktop notifications" section. If it is, click on the button to allow yourself to receive desktop notifications.

Make sure you have allowed notifications in your browser settings

If you are using Typetalk with a web browser, please check the settings below. If you are using a desktop application, please refer to "Check your OS settings".

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome and click on "︙" > "Settings" in the upper right corner.
  2. Click on “Privacy and security” > “Site Settings” > “Notifications”.
  3. Make sure that "Allowed to send notifications" includes https://typetalk.com:443.
  4. If it is not included, add https://typetalk.com:443.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and click on "…" > "Settings" in the upper right corner.
  2. Click on "Cookies and Site Permissions" > "Notifications".
  3. Make sure that "Allow" includes https://typetalk.com:443.
  4. If it is not included, add https://typetalk.com:443.

Safari

  1. Open Safari, and from the menu bar, click “Safari” > “Preferences”.
  2. Click on “Websites” > “Notifications”.
  3. Make sure typetalk.com is "Allow" in the list.
  4. If it is not listed, go to the Typetalk “Notifications” settings page and click the "Enable Desktop Notifications" button to enable it.

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox and click on "≡" > "Settings" in the upper right corner.
  2. Click on "Settings" under "Privacy & Security" > "Permissions" > "Notifications".
  3. Make sure that https://typetalk.com is "Allow" in the "Notification Permissions" section.
  4. If it is not included, add https://typetalk.com.

Check your computer OS settings

If you’re using Windows

Make sure that notifications are enabled in your browser or Typetalk desktop app

  1. Select "Start" > "Settings".
  2. Go to “System” > “Notifications & actions”.
  3. Make sure that "Get notifications from apps and other senders" is enabled.
  4. Look for your browser or “Typetalk” app under "Get notifications from these senders" and make sure that notifications are enabled.
  5. If it is disabled, turn the switch on.

Make sure that Focus Assist is not enabled

  1. Select "Start" > "Settings".
  2. Go to “System” > “Focus assist”.
  3. If the Focus assist is set to "Priority only", select "Customize your priority List".
  4. Find and add your browser or "Typetalk" app from "Add an app".
  5. If your Focus assist is set to "Alarms only", temporarily turn it "off" and check if you’re getting any notifications.

If you’re using macOS

Make sure that notifications are enabled in your browser or Typetalk desktop app

  1. Click on "System Preferences" > "Notification & Focus".
  2. Click on your browser or "Typetalk" app from the list.
  3. Allow notifications and make sure that the notification style is set to "Banners".
  4. If it is disabled, turn the switch on.

Make sure Focus is not enabled

  1. Click on "System Preferences" > "Notification & Focus".
  2. Click on the "Focus" tab.
  3. Make sure that "Do Not Disturb" is not enabled.
  4. If it is enabled, temporarily disable it to check if you’re getting any notifications.
